Not the Love You Need

November 17, 2009

Brother you are killing me
I stopped to love you, you laughed and turned away
Grabbed your forty ounce and sang:
I love me, faith is free
So is indemnity.
Keep your change because
Around here it will remain the same anyway.
With all you’ve seen
A blunt, a forty and a gun only
Extend your tragedy.
(That’s not the love you need)

Condemned to continue your bitter
Romance with a thirty-eight a sawed off or a nine
You do it for yourself but
What is left at the end of the day
Are the remains of a life that
Confines you to reflect what you see, hear and feel.

Around you how can we blame anybody?
