The man behind the iron mask knows
That the miracle of the rose
Is our lady of the flowers
Looking homeward to a brave new world.

As I lay dying the bells toll
A farewell to arms and
The shining sea’s manifest destiny.

Nihilism strikes me (will to power is frightening)
In this brave new world they
Might send a gun man to kill me like
They did: Bobby Kennedy, Abe Lincoln and Gandhi …
Mahatma said ahimsa is the way to go but
I know the miracle of the rose
Is our lady of the flowers
Looking homeward, like an angel, to a brave new world.

Your high windows look to the north sea
The sound of the fury is the
Less deceived in society.
They know that Shakespeare’s on top with an anthology and
The claws of the bear have dropped the KGB, though it’s still
Forward to Richmond as we run the blockade and set
Brother against brother to draw first blood today
Before the bonds are made …
